A Surprise Visit To Disney Springs - Salt N' Straw, Jock Lindsey's, World Of Disney
Our cruise had come to an end, but why should the fun? We dropped off our bags and made our way to Disney Springs, where we had Ice Cream at Salt N' Straw, we searched for a replacement T-shirt that was wrecked at home, we enjoyed a snack and a drink at Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar and had dinner at Chicken Guy before heading home.
Stay tuned til the end for a special announcement about what we have coming up next!
From "Trapped at the Airport" to Disney Magic: Our Impromptu Disney Springs Day
It was disembarkation day on the Voyage of the Seas, and let’s just say things weren't going according to plan. Originally, we had an excursion booked to take us from the port to Disney Springs and then to the airport. But, as luck would have it, we got that dreaded notification: Cancelled due to lack of participation.
Suddenly, we were looking at a grueling 9-hour wait at the airport. We hunkered down, feeling a bit defeated—until a single text from my sister changed everything.
The Travel Hack You Need to Know
My sister told me about an app where you can actually rent space to leave your bags in local stores. The fee is per bag and incredibly reasonable. If you ever find yourself "homeless" between a cruise and a flight, do this. We dropped our bags, grabbed an Uber, and headed straight to Disney Springs.
Stop 1: Sweet Treats at Salt & Straw
We wanted to try things that were new to us, so our first stop was Salt & Straw. If you haven't been, it’s an amazing ice cream shop with specialty flavors, and—bless them—they let you taste as many as you want.
Carrie’s Choice: Chocolate Malted Cookie Dough. (She’s a malt lover, so this was a home run.)
Joe’s Choice: Gooey Chocolate Brownie.
Joe’s Take: It is gooey. It is chocolate. There is brownie. No lies told here, folks. It’s spectacular.
The "Mission" at World of Disney
After some window shopping at Marvel Superhero Headquarters (where I saw things 12-year-old Joe would have died for) and the Star Wars Galactic Outpost, we headed to the World of Disney with a specific mission.
Back in December, I bought a Muppet shirt that I loved, but it met a tragic end in the laundry after only two wears. We were on a hunt for a replacement.
The Haul:
The Mission Accomplished: We found the Muppet shirt!
The Bonus: A new Pin Trader bag, a year-round Starbucks cup, and a Disney Springs pin to commemorate our "impromptu" trip.
The "Oops" Moment: I saw some Haunted Mansion button-ups that felt incredible. Then I saw the price tag. Oof. Not today, friends. Not today.
Sips and Syringes at Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar
You can’t go to Disney Springs without a stop at Jock Lindsay’s. It’s themed after Indiana Jones’ pilot from Raiders of the Lost Ark, and the vibe is unmatched.
Carrie tried Jock’s Old Fashioned (Knob Creek Bourbon, Cointreau, and Orange Bitters). It ranked as her #2 Old Fashioned of all time. High praise!
The Main Event: Air Tours Bacon and Waffles
This dish is spiced candied bacon served with chorizo waffles and a honey balsamic syrup served in... a syringe.
Pro Tip: Make sure you take the cap off the syringe before you try to squeeze it. I’m not an animal, but I almost learned that the hard way.
The mix of spicy, savory, and sweet was sheer perfection.
One Last Bite: Chicken Guy!
To wrap up the day, we hit Chicken Guy! (shoutout to Guy Fieri). We split a chicken tender meal with the classic Buffalo sauce and the signature Donkey Sauce.
Note: I feel like I need to defend our eating habits—we did walk for two hours between the waffles and the chicken! But hey, we’re on vacation, right?
What’s Next for MisCast Members?
As this series ends, a new one begins. While you’re reading this, I’m actually on a different ship. It’s not Royal Caribbean this time...
We are currently on the Disney Treasure!
Expect a ton of new videos featuring exploring, eating, and a very unique itinerary—all happening over my birthday. I can’t wait to share it with you all.
Thanks for following along on this journey. Until next time, whatever you do, make it magical!
