Disney Treasure Day 7 - Final Day, Castaway Cay

Our last day aboard the Disney Treasure was a special one, with a trip to Castaway Cay that included lunch, snorkeling and a 5K, our final dinner at Plaza de Coco and Beauty and the Beast, our final Broadway-style entertainment on the ship. We also give out our "You Do Doors Good" Awards for the best door decorations and we take some time to say good-bye to the ship.

It's always sad to see a trip like this come to an end, but there's a lot of fun to get into, so follow us along!

It’s our final day aboard the Disney Treasure, and we’re here at Castaway Key.

Hey everybody, welcome to the channel. I am Joe, and all good things must come to an end. This is our final day aboard the Disney Treasure, but that doesn’t mean that there’s not a ton of stuff to do, cuz we’re here at Castaway Key.

We’re going to be exploring the island and doing all that stuff. Plus, we’ve got another show tonight. We got to get packed, and we got our final night at Plaza Coco. So, come along with us.

Let’s go have some fun.

Arriving at Castaway Key

Getting off the ship at the aft exit was really fast. There was virtually no line, but it’s also a little unceremonious as there isn’t much going on there. Everything’s near the forward exit, but it might be worth it though because we had our pick of the towels being provided to us.

The island is decorated for the holidays, but don’t miss out on the regular decorations there as well, including the pump house named for Joe Shot, the president of Disney’s Signature Experiences.

While there are trams that will take you around the island, getting to the main beach is a fairly short walk away and gives you the opportunity to take everything in. So, unless you have a mobility issue or you’re going somewhere like Serenity Bay, I’d recommend experiencing the walk.

Shopping Around the Island

The first shopping you’ll find is She Sells Seashells, which sells a lot of the basic Disney Cruise Line merch and has a lot of island-exclusive gear like spirit jerseys, plushes, t-shirts, and tumblers.

There’s really more shirts than you can shake a stick at here. Just shirts and shirts and shirts all over the place in here.

Further in, you have Buy the Seashore. Get it? She sells seashells, buy the seashore.

This shop has a lot more variety in my opinion, so be patient in your shopping endeavors. They’ve got beach towels, beach toys, more beach toys, DCL merch, a wide variety of essentials like sunscreen and diapers, lots of beach wear, more beach gear, ears and plushes, hoodies, ornaments, button-ups.

I really like this shirt, but I know it’s a million dollars. Yeah, 65. It’s not bad.

They’ve got magnets and tons of exclusive pins. More ears, shades, sandals, and so much more.

Beach Day

The beach is absolutely gorgeous, and there is a lot going on on it. I didn’t feel like there were as many chairs as there were at Lookout Key, but more than enough for the crowd that was there.

Serenity Bay, which was a tram ride away, is an adults-only area, and I’m sure there are plenty of people there as well.

The beach has a lot of other activities as well, like this play area and the family beach area and water slides in the adjacent beach. You’ve got shaded games with pool tables and basketball and things you can play out of the sun—hence the name.

Bahamian Market

Then you’ve got Bahamian retail. Think less Disney merch and more Bahamas merch.

Disney made a deal with the Bahamian government to ensure that there was some authentic Bahamian representation on the island, with their own merchants and artisans selling all kinds of handcrafted goods, toys, and other keepsakes.

They’ve got lots of clothes that are perfect for the heat, like these dresses and shirts, matched outfits, shorts. Most of this stuff has Bahamas written on it somewhere.

Plenty of sandals and Crocs and anything else you might want to wear on the island.

Food and Drinks

The Conched Out Bar is near the family island and serves up drinks all day. But this isn’t the liquid I had in mind right now.

It was time for a cold beverage, so we hit up Summertime Freeze, where they have all kinds of smoothies and frozen drinks like Olaf’s Flurry Freeze, the Frozen Heart, Sven’s Carrot Delight, and Arendelle Winter.

Abby got “In Summer” with Zico coconut water, pineapple juice, fresh lychees, and ginger. I went simpler with a visit to the refreshment station.

It’s important to remember that Disney Cruise Line’s included soda extends to their islands, where you have a great selection.

They’ve also got an ice cream station where you can get a cone while you’re walking around—or any reason really. You don’t need an excuse.

They’ve got a fresh fruit stand with all kinds of whole sliced fruits, and they were all so delicious.

They have a smoothie and frozen drink stand that’s a little bit more adult-oriented here, but they do also have some non-alcoholic options.

Then you’ve got Cookies Barbecue, where you’re going to have more buffet-style lunch that includes fruit, burgers and hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, roast chicken, ribs, chili, rice, and mac and cheese, as well as a selection of sweets for dessert.

So, we didn’t really capture ourselves eating this lunch. It was a very, very basic kind of lunch. We had some burgers, we had some ribs—nothing really that matched up to our experience at Lookout Key.

Like, we had all the same things, but there was more at Lookout Key. So, if you’re interested in seeing the kinds of foods, then go check out that video.

It’s not to say that anything was bad. It was just kind of basic here.

Afternoon on the Island

After lunch, we went back to the beach. Well, not all of us.

Alright, Carrie went off to do the 5K. She didn’t bring any of her running stuff cuz she didn’t think she was going to do it, but she’s off doing it now in Birkenstocks. So, give her some love down in the comments for that.

Yeah, we’re just chilling out. It’s starting to die out here a little early. I think the fact that we had Lookout Key yesterday and it’s the last day—people got to pack and all that—I think it’s a little bit more of a leisurely get-back-on-the-boat kind of thing.

So, I think as soon as Carrie comes back, we’ll do the same.

Carrie’s 5K Adventure

So, I woke up yesterday with a bit of a head cold. So, I wasn’t going to do the 5K, but I’m here. And I’m allowed to walk it. So, I figured, why not walk it?

Just going to get my medal, do a 5K in the Bahamas. It’ll be fun.

15 minutes later…

So, I started running it. It’s actually not that bad considering how hot it is and considering I’m wearing a bikini where the top’s a little too big… and Birkenstocks.

So, a 5K run in the Bahamas at 1:00 in the afternoon, dead sun, in a bikini and Birkenstocks.

That’s what I do.

Back on the Ship

With a medal acquired, we headed back to the ship for some final day experiences.

And we had some unfinished business in the form of awarding our favorite door decorations from the cruise.

Final Reflections

I’m having one of those end-of-vacation moments right now. We just packed up and we’re taking everything down and stuff, and this has been an amazing trip.

And we’re sad to leave.

But tomorrow is my birthday, and tomorrow we’re celebrating. We’re staying in Disney. We’re going to stay at Port Orleans Riverside, so there’s going to be a whole video about that too.

But it’s just a lot. It’s overwhelming. I know I’m not alone. I needed a little time to myself just to take in everything we’ve done over the course of this week.

When I became a dad, I promised myself I’d do everything to give my kids a magical life. Even in the times when the world can feel a little less than magical, I don’t want them to grow up cynical.

I want them to be able to embrace joy and beauty, even if you have to go a little bit further to find it.

It’s why I created this channel—to immortalize our adventures and help people find their way to the magic along the way.

It brings me a lot of joy when I realize that even after I’m gone, my family will have this to look back on, and hopefully they’ll carry on the sentiment in their own way.

Looking around the ship for one last time allowed me to reflect on that and think just how truly lucky I am that I get to go on adventures like this with the people that I love the most.

Maybe the saddest thing about the end of this cruise is seeing all the empty doors. All the ones that were once decorated are all clean again as everybody’s packed up and ready to go.

Everything feels kind of sterile again.

But when it comes to these magnets, you take them down so that you can put them back up.

So, can’t wait for the next one.

This trip was so phenomenal. And like any good Disney trip, it all came down to the amazing cast members who made it so magical.

I want to thank everybody who watched this series. Getting to share this kind of stuff with you is just such an honor.

I hope you enjoy following us along on the adventures, and I really hope you’re learning something along the way to help make your vacations better.

But this isn’t a complete goodbye just yet. We actually have one more video.

Debarkation day was actually my birthday, and I’m going to say I made a little bit of a stink about not wanting my birthday to be the day that we travel home and get all stressed and sad.

So, we spent one more night in Walt Disney World. This time, we’re going to be in Port Orleans Riverside.

So, join us for that.

And for all of our future videos, make sure you’re hitting the like and subscribe. Hit the notification bell so you know when those videos are coming out. Make sure to leave a comment down below—it helps the channel get seen.

A good question for this one: What do you do to get over the blues of a vacation ending?

But that’s going to be it for this one.

Thanks again to everyone who watched.

And as always, whatever you do… make it magical.
