Reliving Our 2007 Walt Disney World Honeymoon!
Carrie and Joe get nostalgic and look back on their 2007 honeymoon to Walt Disney World, including trips to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon as well as share some of their favourite Disney Stories.
Looking Back at Where It All Started
Today, we’re getting nostalgic.
After having a recent trip canceled, we found ourselves digging through memories instead of park maps… and landed right back in 2007 — our honeymoon at Walt Disney World.
Seventeen years ago.
Somehow that feels like both yesterday and another lifetime.
This wasn’t actually the honeymoon day itself, but these photos? Proof that we cleaned up pretty well. There was hair. There were curls. There was even a film-themed wedding, complete with real film strips woven into the décor. Subtle? Not even a little. Perfect for us? Absolutely.
Our Stay at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
We stayed at Disney's All-Star Movies Resort — and honestly, it was exactly what we needed.
The giant icons, the over-the-top theming, the Mickey towel creations… it all hit that sweet spot of “you’re at Disney now.” The rooms? Let’s just say they’ve had a serious glow-up since then. Back in 2007, things were a little more… basic.
Also worth noting: this was peak early digital camera era. A 3-megapixel Canon point-and-shoot was doing its best. Compared to today’s phones, it’s like comparing a flipbook to a feature film.
Still, it captured the magic.
First Night Magic at Magic Kingdom
We didn’t waste time.
Our first night, we headed straight to Magic Kingdom to catch fireworks and a parade.
That parade? SpectroMagic.
If you know, you know.
Glowing floats, slightly terrifying Renaissance-Purge energy performers, and that unmistakable Disney nighttime magic. It was the last time we saw it — and honestly, we’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
Also, shoutout to the “Year of a Million Dreams” celebration. We got honeymoon buttons… and a free ride straight onto Expedition Everest later in the trip. Disney magic was doing overtime that year.
Daytime Adventures Around the Parks
Animal Kingdom
At Disney's Animal Kingdom, we spent a lot of time doing what most people do on their first visit:
Taking photos of animals… and having absolutely no idea what half of them were.
But the real star? The Tree of Life. The closer you get, the more it reveals. It’s one of those rare park icons that rewards curiosity.
Hollywood Studios (Then MGM Studios)
Back when it was still MGM Studios, this park was a love letter to movies — and that hit home for us.
We caught the Stars & Motorcars Parade, complete with everything from Mary Poppins to Star Wars (before Disney even owned it). There was something special about how deeply film culture was woven into everything.
We also experienced:
The iconic The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
The Lights, Motors, Action stunt show (RIP, but unforgettable)
And yes — the giant Sorcerer Mickey hat was front and center back then.
Epcot Evenings & Traditions
Epcot became our tradition without us even realizing it.
We ended our trip there… and now we end every trip there.
World Showcase, evening strolls, and dinner at Chefs de France (with zero photo evidence because 2007 us didn’t photograph food like civilized content creators).
That night ended with IllumiNations, which, even through a struggling camera sensor, still managed to feel epic.
The Little Moments That Stuck
Some of the best memories weren’t the headliners:
Sprinting to make a dining reservation across parks
Discovering that plastic Mickey ears + June heat = regret
Random candid photos (some… more questionable than others)
Getting unexpectedly pulled to the front of a ride line just for being newlyweds
And maybe most importantly… learning how we travel together.
Fast-paced. Curious. Always moving.
17 Years Later
That trip flew by. Too fast.
But it also set the tone for everything that came after — from return trips to vlogs to building a whole channel around experiences like this.
And now?
We’re heading back again.
Same energy. Better cameras. Way more food photos.
What’s Next
We’ve got another Disney trip coming up — longer, better planned, and packed with experiences (including Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party).
So if there’s something you want to see, let us know.
Because if there’s one thing we’ve learned since 2007, it’s this:
Disney trips come and go…
…but the stories stick.
